The fork is strong with this one
A long time ago in a restaurant far, far away, or rather, this June in an as-yet undisclosed location in London, an unusual dining experience will open. Entitled “The Fork Awakens,” this culinary celebration of the Star Wars franchise is the creation of Barrel & Forks, who specialise in bringing immersive dining experiences to and around London.
Fancy dress welcome
Diners, or “food troopers” as they will be known, are encouraged to attend in fancy dress, so expect your fellow diners to include Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Ewoks. The organisers promise “an immersive journey through time and space, with many familiar encounters and interactive adventures on the way” as you prepare to dine within the Death Star.
What’s on the menu?
During the dining experience, food troopers will be treated to a menu inspired by the events and worlds of Star Wars. Start with a Jedi Lightsabre Cocktail before tucking into a meal that includes Tatooine Muddy Soup, Mini Banthaburgers and Hutt Dogs – secret recipes that organisers claim have been stolen from the Empire’s canteen and Aunt Beru!
How to attend
The event takes place from 23rd June to 2nd July. All food troopers will need to register online with Barrel & Forks. Once registered, you will become a member of The Fork Alliance with a unique ID. A month before the event, you will get the ID home, granting you access to the galaxy culinary adventure. Directions to the top-secret pop-up Death Star diner will only be given 48 hours beforehand.
This dining experience promises to be one that Star Wars fans can truly savour, but food troopers should be aware that the canteen has “strong drinks, hot tunes, and occasional outbreaks of shocking violence.” May the fork be with you, always!
