Nestled in the heart of Gisburn, a quaint village on the edge of the Ribble Valley which neighbours the beautiful Forest of Bowland, La Locanda is the UK’s most awarded Italian restaurant outside of London.
You will be invited to start your 5 course meal with an aperitif and perhaps some homemade Tuscan garlic and rosemary focaccia, or stuffed ascolane olives with succulent cherry tomatoes. Not for La Locanda customers are the ‘New York style’ garlic breads found in many establishments. Neither will you be offered a cappuccino at the end of your evening meal, as true Italians know this drink is to be enjoyed only at breakfast time.
Located in a charmingly renovated country cottage, the restaurant has a naturally rustic ambience reminiscent of an unassuming Italian trattoria. The exposed brickwork and original oak beams set the scene for an intimate meal for two or small group of friends.
Maurizio and Cinzia, La Locanda’s esteemed owners, treat regular patrons like family and new customers like friends of old. They want you to relax, slow your day, to savour the true tastes and flavours of Italy. They take as much pride in making their restaurant welcoming as they do in making their food delectable. Every second of your visit is deemed to be special – that’s the La Locanda way.
