A 200-year-old former village inn has been converted into a luxury boutique hotel andfine dining restaurant in the heart of Kent’s picturesque Alkham Valley, near Dover. Nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Marquis offers a seasonally inspired menu created by our Head Chef Stephen Piddock. Supported by a team of chefs from some of the best restaurants in Kent, Stephen prides himself on his contemporary cuisine. The emphasis is on robust, fresh flavours and locally sourced ingredients – whether it’s the catch of the day landed by the local fishing boats, rabbit from the Alkham Valley, or wild herbs foraged straight from the countryside. The Marquis was transformed into a fine dining restaurant with luxury boutique rooms near Folkestone following a £1.5 million renovation in 2008. The building has been stripped back to its original brickwork, extended, refurbished, and furnished to provide contemporary style and elegance in a rural setting.
