We have been using Callow Hall since 2000 for "special events" as we love the service and food, but wow how the mighty have fallen. We booked via the website and got no response so had to chase up booking by 'phone, Looking at the website the menu was again the deciding factor for our booking. The menu we were given on the night bore no resemblance only 5 mains all bland and unimaginative. In fact we ordered the fillet steak with asparagus and were told that the chef had run out of asparagus so would cabbage do ! Cannot fault the food what we had was well cooked and presented. The service was another matter. We had to ask for steak knives also for the side order of chips we had ordered. The wine we ordered was also forgotten and we had to ask for that. It arrived after we had started the mains. We had the hotel to ourselves, no one in the bar and we were the only couple in the dining room so no atmosphere. This perhaps should have told us something. Totally DISAPPOINTED and will think long and hard before we visit again.
