Kota, meaning 'Shellfish' in Maori (chef Jude is half Maori, half Chinese Malay) is set in a 300 year old building, right on the Harbour Head of the historic fishing village of Porthleven. Representing the South West in BBCs Great British Menu, Jude works his culinary magic on the best local produce using his signature Asian twist. As well as his multiple awards (2 AA Rosettes, Micheling Bib Gourmand, Trenchermans Innovation Award) Kota has the luxury of 2 en suite B&B rooms, including 1 large family room with fantastic harbour views.
Jude and his wife Jane opened a more casual family friendly restaurant in the village, Kota Kai in 2011. Here they welcome diners to enjoy a relaxing meal in a light environment with a diverse range of dishes inspired by Jude's multiple influences. Ideally located at the head of Porthleven harbour and occupying the entire top floor of Celtic House, diners can enjoy unbeatable views across the harbour, towards the clock tower and beyond.
Kota Kai Bar & Kitchen is a versatile space enjoyed by drinkers and diners. It is also is a family friendly restaurant with the added benefit of a children’s room which offers the opportunity for kids to enjoy themselves with toys, games and books while parents have a relaxing drink or meal in the main restaurant.
